About the fund
The Thriving Together Fund (Small Grants) is designed to strengthen community health and wellbeing across County Durham. Funded by Durham County Council and managed by Point North, this fund combines several public health funding streams to support projects that help people thrive, reduce inequalities, and respond to local challenges.
Eligibility
Organisations do not need to be registered charities, but must have charitable aims. Eligible groups include:
- Community and voluntary groups
- Youth clubs and playgroups
- Schools (for non-statutory projects)
- Sports clubs and facilities
- Environmental and senior citizens groups
- Churches, village halls, Scouts & Guides
Funding available
Grants range from £2,000 to £5,000. Applications must include costs for staff or volunteer training linked to project delivery. Other eligible costs include:
- Training (e.g. suicide prevention, housing advice, financial support)
- Travel expenses
- DBS checks
- Materials

Projects must align with the fund’s priorities:
- Tackling rising mental health concerns
- Combating social isolation and lack of community spaces
- Promoting digital inclusion and public health awareness
- Supporting community-led health and wellbeing initiatives

Applications are made online via Point North’s portal.
