The Asda Foundation Local Community Spaces Fund provides capital funding to improve, repair and develop community spaces across the UK.
The fund focuses on creating safe, accessible and welcoming environments that bring people together and help tackle loneliness and isolation.
About the Fund
The Local Community Spaces Fund supports grassroots organisations that manage physical spaces where communities meet, access support and take part in activities.
Asda Foundation has already invested millions into community hubs and continues to prioritise spaces that play a vital role in local wellbeing and social connection.
The fund is designed to ensure these spaces remain functional, inclusive and able to serve local communities effectively.
How Much Funding Is Available
- Grants between £10,000 and £20,000
- Funding is typically expected to fully cover the proposed project
Organisations may contribute their own funds, but must demonstrate these are already secured at the time of application.
What the Fund Supports
The fund supports capital improvements to community spaces, including:
- Essential repairs and maintenance (e.g. roofs, heating, safety works)
- Renovation or refurbishment of existing spaces
- Improvements to accessibility (e.g. ramps, layout changes)
- Adapting spaces to support more users or activities
The focus is on practical improvements that ensure spaces remain safe, usable and accessible to the wider community.
Projects should clearly demonstrate how they bring people together and improve community wellbeing.
Funding Priorities
The Foundation prioritises:
- Community centres hosting a wide range of activities
- Spaces supporting vulnerable groups in areas of high deprivation
- Youth centres providing structured activities and support
- Facilities tackling loneliness and social isolation
Projects should be inclusive, accessible and regularly used by a broad range of local people.
