About the B&Q Foundation
The B&Q Foundation is the charitable arm of B&Q, supporting UK charities that work to improve the living conditions of people in need. Through its Home Improvement Grants programme, the Foundation provides both essential home improvement funding and home starter kits to help vulnerable individuals and families access safe, welcoming places to live.
What the Fund Supports
Grants are for projects that make tangible, lasting improvements to accommodation used by people in need. This includes essential repairs and adaptations, as well as home starter kits for people moving into their own homes for the first time. Eligible projects must benefit individuals or families who are experiencing one or more of the following:
- Homelessness or risk of homelessness
- Domestic abuse
- Physical disability or serious illness
- Financial hardship
How Much Funding Is Available
Grants of up to £10,000 are available per project. The funding can be used for capital improvements and project delivery costs, but cannot be used for staff salaries, general overheads, debt repayment, or retrospective costs. Projects must be completed within 12 months of the award. Organisations must wait one year after a previous grant completion before reapplying.
Who Is Eligible
Only registered UK charities can apply. To be eligible your organisation must provide accommodation or support people moving into their own homes, and must improve the accommodation or gardens connected to that accommodation. You must have at least one year of operation with annual accounts, a safeguarding policy, and at least two years remaining on any lease or rental agreement.

- Must own or have landlord permission for the space being improved
- Minimum one year in operation with annual accounts
- Must be able to provide impact reports after the grant
How to Apply
Applications are submitted via the Neighbourly platform. Round 2 of 2026 closed in May, but check the Neighbourly website for future rounds. Organisations are required to confirm eligibility and read the criteria carefully before applying.
