About the Fund
They support work that promotes human dignity and defends the human rights of the most marginalised and excluded people. They believe in justice not charity. This means taking a rights-based approach and supporting work that promotes rather than diminishes dignity – work that is respectful, acknowledges people’s strengths, and supports them to exercise their own agency.
Eligibility
Focus is on supporting the most marginalised and excluded groups in the UK, who are often from communities experiencing poverty and racial injustice.
- Upholding the human rights framework, is a means of providing overall protection to everyone.
- Supporting access to justice, they recognise that high-quality legal advice and representation is a powerful tool to help bring about both individual redress and systemic change.
- Focus on work with people who have migrated to the UK, refugees and those seeking asylum, and people caught up in the criminal legal system, as some of the groups most marginalised and excluded by society.
Grant Details
Open Programme grants are usually between £10,000 to £30,000 per year and are awarded from one to three years. Insofar as possible they provide unrestricted funding.
