About the Fund
The People’s Fund to tackle serious violence is now open. It offers £500,000 to people across West Yorkshire who are delivering projects working to tackle serious violence.Each district can receive up to £100,000. Local groups and organisations can apply for up to £10,000 each. Local residents will decide on the winning projects.This initiative is part of Mayor Tracy Brabin’s effort to create a co-produced serious violence strategy for the region.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants include voluntary and community groups, charities, not-for-profit organisations, West Yorkshire local authorities and statutory agencies. To qualify, the group must:
- Be constituted or have agreed terms of reference.
- Be a recognised organisation that can handle funds.
- Show compliance with statutory requirements, like CRB checks for work with children and necessary EqIA and safeguarding documents.
- Partner with a Voluntary, Community, or Social Enterprise (VSCE) organisation for West Yorkshire Police projects.
Note: The People’s Fund will not support private companies, general appeals, funding for longer than 12 months, projects outside West Yorkshire, academic research, bursaries, travel projects, individuals, work that’s a statutory requirement, food for foodbanks, refreshments, replacement of statutory funding or retrospective grants. Long-term capital projects or short-term capital projects over 12 months are also excluded.
Grant Details
Project proposals can range from £100 to £10,000. Up to three partners may work together, with a maximum request of £30,000.
How to apply
- Complete the Expression of Interest Form by 6 February 2026.
- A link to the survey form is provided on the official site.
- If shortlisted, attend a You Decide Voting Event in your district (late Feb–Mar 2026).
- Final funded projects are selected based on community votes
