Up to £15,000 a Year for North West Charities Supporting Mental Health
The CRH Charitable Trust offers multi-year grant funding to charities and not-for-profit organisations in north west England that support children, young people and adults with mental illness or mental disability.
With a rolling deadline and trustees meeting four times a year, there is no single window to miss — applications are considered at the next available meeting throughout the year.
About the CRH Charitable Trust
The CRH Charitable Trust is a private charitable trust focused on improving the lives of people affected by mental illness and mental disability across north west England. The Trust prioritises local organisations with deep roots in their communities, and favours specific, well-defined pieces of work over general operating costs.
The Trust is particularly interested in funding projects that have a clear plan for how the work will continue after the grant period ends — sustainability beyond the grant is an important part of the assessment.
How Much Funding Is Available
Most grants range from £5,000 to £15,000 per year, for up to three years. There is no formal minimum or maximum — funding is at the discretion of the Trustees. Larger grants may be subject to reducing amounts in the second and third years.
Most forms of revenue expenditure are eligible. Capital costs can be considered but will not receive priority, and relatively small contributions to a large capital appeal are unlikely to be supported.
Eligible expenditure includes:
- Staff costs and project delivery expenses
- Revenue costs directly related to the charitable work
- Core costs linked to a specific piece of new work
The Trust prefers to fund specific, discrete projects rather than general organisational running costs. New work is given priority over the continuation of existing activities.
What the CRH Charitable Trust Supports
The Trust funds charitable activities that support people with mental illness and mental disability in north west England. This includes work with:
- Children and young people with mental health needs
- Adults living with mental illness or mental disability
- Organisations delivering early intervention or community-based mental health support
Priority is given to local organisations that can demonstrate clear impact and a credible plan for financial sustainability once the grant ends. National organisations are considered only where they can demonstrate that spending will be genuinely restricted to the local area.
