About the Fund
The trustees will make discretionary grants of between £5,000 and £25,000 where they believe that their contribution will make a real difference to suicide awareness or prevention.
Outcomes:
• Priority is on innovative projects that will have an impact on suicide awareness or prevention.
• Smaller charities, including CIOs registered in the UK, are encouraged to apply.
• Charities with an income of more than £1 million or reserves of more than 12 months are less likely to be successful.
Eligibility
- UK-registered charities, including Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIOs) and Community Interest Companies (CIC) limited by guarantee.
- Smaller charities are especially encouraged. Organisations with annual income over £1 million, or with more than 12 months unrestricted reserves, are less likely to succeed.
Grant Details
- Grant size: between £5,000 and £25,000 per award.
- They accept full cost recovery; core costs may be considered if they align strongly with the mission.

- Send a brief memo (max two sides of A4, font ≥ size 11) to grants@davidriddell.org, including: organisation details, contact, overview, staff/volunteer numbers & beneficiary numbers; confirmation of child protection and insurance; income & expenditure forecast; project summary with outcomes and how they’ll be measured; latest audited/examined financial accounts.
- If shortlisted, you may be asked for further information. Depending on grant size, this may include a video call or an assessment visit by a trustee.
